How Insane Can Religion Be if You Give It Half a Chance and Half a Brain?
The Pope in a speech in Brazil declared recently, "Christ was the Saviour America's Natives silently yearned for."
He thus alienated several millions of God's children, who happen to not share his persuasions.
How did he know this? Could we get the address book of his email?

Well, he is part of the Christian community, as such, he said what he believes to be true. He has a right to voice his believes, just as anyone has a right to. You don't have to agree with those believes, that's your right. Christians see Christ as the Savior for everyone who wants to accept that, that's a crucial part, the decision is up to each individual and can't be forced on anyone.

Right.
So these natives, Indians and aboriginals all thorughout the Americas are quietly minding their own business, worhsipping whatever dieties they may choose in their own way and this man who apparently knows better than they tells them that - unbeknownst to them - they have been secretl yearning for his version of God.
That isn't a belief system. That's arrogance.
Actually, Christians are supposed to share the good news, that God is offering eternal life to all. Many won't do that, because people get hostile. It takes courage to speak up. If you know the only way to safety, it's pretty selfish not to share the information. BUT, everyone has to be able to make their own choice, forceful conversion is totally unacceptable. I made a choice, I grew up in a staunch catholic family, I'm more in line with evangelical beliefs. I've learned lots about different churches, sects and religions, to make a choice, you need to know what you're choosing from.
And going around telling other people that what they believe is not good enough is simply crude and disrespectful...
You may find it crude and disrespectful, I can tell you, that it's not done out of disrespect, but love and concern for others. I know some people, that belief in predestination, as in God chooses who gets to go to heaven and who goes to hell...and see no need to tell people about the way of salvation. That I think is arrogant and self centered. We all get a choice and we don't know everything, we don't know God's complete plans. For the sake of many, I hope there's a back up plan, but it doesn't indicate that in the bible. One thing I believe is that nobody is able to attain perfection, at least I've never met a perfect person, so Jesus did, what we cannot, and through Him we're made perfect. I'm talking in spiritual terms, not saying Christians are perfect as humans, far from it, but we're supposed to see some growth and improvements in ourselves, or we're not really leading the lives we could as Christians. Even in sharing what we believe, we need to respect other people, sometimes you agree to disagree. I guess one day we'll all find out, right? Maybe I'll have "egg on my face", but 'till then
I'll stay on my spiritual journey here on earth.
Why does YOUR spiritual journey have to be MY spiritual journey?

The moment you try to sell your path to another is the moment you have stepped OFF the path.
Those who proseletize do so only to convince themselves. Those who believe have no such need. We let the world find itself.
