Investigate the RCMP Taser Death NOW
"You expect something like that in America, but not in Canada."
This is a man in Poland speaking of the sickening murder of Robert Dziekanski by the RCMP at YVR.
Equally sickening is the denial by the police and the refusal of either federal or provincial attorneys-general or solicitors-general to demand at once what every reasonable Canadian knows is due - an impartial, citizen panel to investigate this disgrace.
One taser is bad enough; two is more than questionable. But jumping on a man in distress???
These thugs must be out of uniform as fast as possible.
That must be followed immediately by the panel that will ask all the unhappy but necessary questions.
Like many of you, I have always been a supporter of the police in general and the RCMP in particular. Like many of you, my support is like the Force's reputation - in tatters.

One has to also question Canada's immigration policies. I have read that Robert Dziekanski has been in prison for five years for theft as a teenager. He was also unemployed for two years and supported by the Polish state before leaving for Canada. He is also mentally challenged which may explain his inability to find his way through Vancouver's airport and had refused to learn English.
His mother has only been in Canada for six years.
Should not this country be bringing in young people instead of old people just a few years from pension age and medical care?
What's equally disturbing and the letters and talkshow callers who defended the actions of the police officers. Here are some of the excuses they gave for justifying the horrific actions:
1. He didn't speak English.
2. He was tall and heavy.
3. He may have been in prison in Poland.
4. His mother should have figured out how to meet him.
And on & on it goes. Like you, I have long been a huge supporter of the police. But how such people can still be after seeing what we've all seen illustrates how easy it is for the state to manipulate weak minds.

I don't disagree with your comments about Canada's immigration policies. However, posting such comments in this context leads one to conclude that his death was somehow his fault. As I stated previously, I find such views to be quite disgusting.
George Scott, National Vice President, Customs and Excise Union stated on a recent radio interview "if she explained it properly" when referring to the mother of Robert Dziekanski and her inability to connect with her son. That just says it all doesn't it? The implication being that it's her fault -- she probably didn't ask the right questions.
I agree with the statement above regarding the state manipulating weak minds. It's like the old joke: who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?

The police will look into any detail of the man's past history to cover their butts. It was not mentioned here that he fought with his girl friend and that he gave up smoking just prior to his flight. Are those reasons to Taser a man who according to the latest video was hardly violent.
Being a long time airport employee the idea of hiring interpreters is nonsense. There are many airport employees and passengers who can speak a multitude of languages. Back in the old days the airline would make a PA announcement for an interpreter and pay them a token amount for their service.
One other comment about the sudden use of tasers and such is that the RCMP, bowing to the political correctness of the day, must hire females and minorities. How can some of these 95 pound people provide any sort of control over a much bigger person? Taser is the answer.
