Shameful Government

The Basi Virk trial is one of the greatest shams and miscarriages of justice this sorry jurisdiction has ever witnessed.

Now, to add to the injury, the BC government wants to ban the publication of 90 e-mails that have some relevance to the proceedings.

Does Wally Opaque have his sticky hand in this obscenity?

Whoever is involved might be reminded of the old adage that, "not only does justice need to be done, it needs to be seen to be done."

Transparency has not been a long suit for the BC Liberals.

"the BC government wants to ban" and since when has our Provincial Government had the Power or the Mandate to dictate our Court's mission? Er, I forgot, since always.

Cheers, Gary.

BC Railgate is one of the most shameful of Liberal scandals. The question that must be answered is that did anyone receive a benefit for selling BC Rail.

What is most embarrassing to the Liberals, BC Rail, in the age of 41.50/litre gas, could have been a useful tool in providing a 'rail' alternative to the car.

But with CN Rail in charge, lethargy, inaction and do-nothing are the actions of the day.

The Olympics my become a world-class example embarrassment, where a complacent government, invested only in roads and not rail.

Shame on Gordo; shame on the Liberals, shame on VANOC; shame on the IOC.

The Liberals - and/or the RCMP and/or the courts - are on the most uncomfortable horns of a well-deserved dilemma. If the case is allowed to continue, the public might, at last, find out more than the government wants us to know - after which they're in danger of losing the 2009 election. On the other horn, the perception of cover-up if the case is thrown out could well have the same effect.

Whichever - the "We will not sell BC Rail" promise-breakers would get their just desserts. BTW, the term "promise-breakers" was used because we are not allowed to use the alternative. Politicians are allowed to do it, but SLAPP suits prevent us from saying so.
