NO NEWS

The more observant among you may have noticed that there has been no mention in this blog of Jon & Kate or of Balloon Boy.

Over the past several months, I would be channel surfing and I would run across this repulsive little twerp sitting on a couch and yammering some drivel or other.

I'd give him the required 2.5 seconds and move on.

Turns out this is the now famous Jon of Jon & Kate, etc.

But I have the same question now that I had several months ago.

What is Twerp doing on TV in the first place?

Why is that fat ugly rock star and his fat ugly family on TV all the time?

Who is watching this stuff?

Who is watching that hideous Bounty Hunter guy and his hideous Bounty Hunter chick?

As for Balloon Boy...I don't know and I don't care.

Why is this first rate reporter, Anderson Cooper, diluting his franchise with this non-story?

Watching or paying attention to the likes of the above (Anderson excepted, of course) is deleterious to your health.

Be careful out there.

When I first saw this on TV, I thought 'damn'; then I began to wonder, "it's a very small balloon to carry off a boy, but maybe there are some aerodynamics in the design that allows this."

Then I thought, "the boy fell", and later I thought this is a hoax.

Why then all the media attention? I guess the American media don't like to fooled. Well in Canada, the mainstream media are fooled all the time by our politicians and their trained puppies and they don't seem to care at all.

Anderson Cooper first rate? He may be first rate at teabagging his boy friend, (had to wiki that term) and kissing "the ones" behind but thats about it for me. But given that you get the tingle up the leg from "the one", I guess I'm not surprised. I thought a contrarian like yourself would be more discerning but there you go.

and I thought it was just a ploy from Wolf Blitzer to keep Christiane Amanpour off the airwaves.

Anderson is good but mostly because he can afford to be. He's an independently wealthy heir to a family fortune and therefore can afford to tell the truth the way it should be told. He could no doubt buy CNN a couple times over and is not beholden to it for anything. He has no fear of being fired or downgraded in stature or whatever else it is that keeps the mainstream media under someone's control from the backgraound.

way back in 1985 I moved into an apartment in the West End. For some strange reason we had about 5 or 6 free satellite channels. I would often come home late at night from work and sit to unwind in front of the T.V watching CNN. I used to love watching a segment called CrossFire. Over the years I've watched CNN become just another news program as annoying as all the rest of them. Sad really. As for T.V in general, other than some news programs, a little sports, and the odd special here and there, I can't stomach it anymore.
What some people call entertainment, and who many people worship, I often can't wrap my head around. I guess it's true what they say, talent is in the eyes of the beholder.
