STUPIDITY
No writer would attempt to create a character in fiction this stupid.
A police officer not very far from here - in Stanwood, Washington - leaves two children alone in the car.
Also in the car is a loaded gun.
One child picks up the gun, accidentally fires and the other child is dead.
Now, of course, it doesn't help that America is a deeply engrained gun culture with as many as two firearms in play for every man, woman and child in the nation.

Our American friends just do not get it with guns and sadly every now and again a tragedy like this happens.
Oh yes they will blame the poor chap and he (and his insurance company) will bear this burden for the rest of his life. But, in this instance, American society must look at themselves in the mirror and say; "Do we still must be armed to the teeth, do we still have a constitutional right to bear arms?"
On a recent trip to the US, I could not keep wondering how many casual pedestrians, shoppers, joggers, etc. were armed?
The USA is a scared nation, whose history is based on myth and judicial incompetence and it is the children who are sadly sacrificed for this gross perverted Kafka-ish un-history supported by the NRA and the demented courts.
