Victor on the Glorious, Glamorous PIG

Hi mensche

There are, mystical, primordial reasons, no doubt, why the smiling sow is forbidden meat in so many cultures. But if Johnny Cochrane were to mount a pig defense, he might present the following.

1.Pigs get a bad rap on their apparent filth. It's because they're smart and we're lazy. As it happens, pigs are very hard to pen. They are incredibly strong so they can push over any farm fence or , because they're smart, they will just use their snouts to jiggle the gate. So man learned that he had to build stout enclosures for pigs, made of logs and stones. But such enclosures are expensive, so man made them small. We overcrowd pigs so there is not enough room for their bodily functions. If you put 15 people in a one bedroom apartment, with one toilet, the smell would be similar. Actually, in parts of Vancouver, that's the norm.

2.Pigs are also feared. Fear is a close cousin of contempt. They are feared because they are the only animal raised by the farmer who would happily eat the farmer. Every other farm animal is a herbivore. Mr. Pig swings both ways. The original swinger. So, for centuries , farmers feeding their pigs have known, that one false step turns them from the waiter into the main course. Imagine how waiters in your fav restaurant would regard you in similar circumstances. Actually, I have felt that terror at a few snooty Vancouver restaurants.

3.Last point. Pigs were the original recyclers. Long before recycling became an obsession of yuppies, pigs were into it. Around 200 years ago, farmers would accumulate cow dung in their barns over the winter. How to clean the barns? Well, they stuffed corn into the dung piles and let the pigs in. Instantly, a clean barn. Better than a Hoover.

So here is what we have learned about pigs and man, based on the three examples above.

1. Increasing density may result in more property taxes but it will turn people into swine. Man needs space. He has a technique for getting space. It's called war.

2. You can't build loyalty with handouts, nor can you change fundamental behavior. Pigs and human swine bide their time and ultimately bite the feeding hand.

3. Environmentalists are descended from a species that avoided work, squealed, ate well and had something smelly about them. Think David Suzuki.

HARM REDUCTION IS CUNNING NONSENSE

November 7, 2007

PROPONENTS of the ideology of Harm Reduction – with their strident claims that reducing harm will bring drug addiction and related crime under control – are nothing more than self-serving propagandists.

A mantra-like repetitive misuse of the words “harm reduction” is intended to make truth out of their illusion that addiction is a manageable illness; a fool’s paradise conjured up by Vancouver’s health department and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. It is cunning nonsense.

The use of the positive label ‘harm reduction’ is a sly attempt to insinuate merit and worth into unmanageable needle exchanges, unsafe injection sites and open-ended drug maintenance using methadone.

Wily harm-reduction activists are in a bureaucratic heaven as they glean data from a steady stream of addicts; the data ending up in career building ivory-tower research and evaluation. Whether our pitiful research specimens, human beings, avoid overdosing; or overdose and die – and sometimes be brought back to life only to continue to use drugs – is grist for this grisly statistics mill.

To merely change the setting in which a poison is absorbed or to substitute a synthetic poison in its place, is medically wrong. It is a misadventure of the most perilous kind. Canadian society has to confront the falsehood of harm reduction and all that accrues from it.

A decent and humane society must have significant influence on the self-indulgent few who engage in chronic ingestion of illicit drugs and crime. Law abiding Canadians must speak forcefully on the issue of illicit drugs. The welfare of our children and grandchildren is at stake.

English writer Victor S. Pritchett said “When I say society I mean more than people; I mean people bound together for an end.”

Whatever our ends may be on the issue of illicit drugs they must never be a deceitful bill of goods pressed on us by Orwellian health-bureaucrats and their spin doctors.

In my opinion this two-decade-long deviant process has now breached the thin blue line. We have reached the point of de facto legalization. We witness now a joyless parade of messed-up people stumbling into the Skids of the Downtown Eastside. Once there they engage in vandalism and property crime and avoidance of abstention. They are deservedly ostracized and must be dealt with as the criminals they are.

As pointed out by the Vancouver Province columnist Joey Thompson in her Oct. 31 column: “Addicted professionals and Canada’s rich and famous go cold turkey … they don’t maintain use as a means of dealing with addiction, (so) why do we think street addicts should be treated any differently?”

I concur: if it works for the rich and famous, it will work for the halt and lame.

Harm reduction, once an adjunct process to abstention, now enables drug use and only chatters on about withdrawal and habitual abstinence.

When an addict says “To hell with the straight life, I’m copping-out,” he has to be told: “No! We won’t let you, we’ll put you through detox right now and we’ll help you through withdrawal and recovery.”

Consider the truth of what Dickens said less than two centuries ago: “…Society is where men have to live, like it or not, no one escapes.”

To paraphrase Dickens: What an addict rejects is not humanity or human life in general, but social life in particular.

Think it through folks. With harm reduction being pressed on us as the principal way to counteract addiction, trafficking and related property crime, the end result will be drug legalization. The unintended consequence with legalization will surely be an anything-goes upside-down society and bleak prospects for our vulnerable children and grandchildren targeted by black market drug gangs.

There are many leaders amongst us who will not cave in to the harm reduction crowd. One is recently retired Vancouver policeman Al Arsenault. He and his partners in Odd Squad Productions Society have worked countless off-duty hours to film and document the truth about Vancouver’s deeply rooted drug world.

On Nov. 2, the New York Independent International Film and Video Festival awarded Odd Squad’s Stolen Lives the 'Founder’s Choice for a Documentary;' and Tears for April: Beyond the Blue Lens was awarded 'Excellence in Cinema for a Feature Film.’

I’ve seen both films and was stunned by the destructive consequences of chronic ingestion of illicit drugs, a reality far beyond any worst-case scenario I had in mind.

On Oct 27, after receiving word from the New York festival, Arsenault was ecstatic: “Here’s some good news about our follow-up film to Through a Blue Lens. Tears for April: Beyond the Blue Lens represents 10 years of filming distilled into a 98-minute masterpiece! We are showing it at Cinemark’s Tinseltown Cinema from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6, two matinees and two evening shows a day. Come and see the film that the Vancouver International Film Festival cared not to screen.”

While Arsenault was in New York receiving acclaim for Tears for April, Vancouver was being examined by American newsman Dan Rather.

In a Vancouver Sun report on Nov. 2, headlined “Dan Rather here to show ugly side of Vancouver,” columnist Miro Cernetig said “The Downtown Eastside, the poorest neighbourhood in Canada, has long been a time-bomb this city has never bothered to defuse. Now it’s about to explode on the international stage. …

“When Rather sat down with Mayor Sam Sullivan Thursday, the newsman asked whether the world would see the “Dickensian” underbelly of Vancouver in 2010.

“He zeroed in on the mayor’s drug policy and the Insite project which helps addicts to inject illegally obtained heroin. Isn’t the mayor ‘mollycoddling’ drug users, prostitutes and ne’er-do-wells in the Downtown Eastside? The Texan asked.”

According to Cernetig the mayor was also asked if Insite is tantamount to “state assisted suicide.”

The jig is up Mayor Sullivan: Humpty-dumpy Vancouver is about to fall off the harm-reduction wall; and when it does, all your spin doctors and medical health officers will not be able to put Humpty Dumpty together again.

Les is Much, Much Less

Shoot the messenger. That's always a good policy.

So, Kash Heed, the new Police Chief of West Vancouver writes an editorial urging an open debate on a regional police force.

What is the reaction of Top Cop, John Les, the provincial Solicitor-General?

LIke a polictiican, like a spoiled school boy, he complains to the principal, in this case, the Mayor of West Vancouver. He basically tells the mayor to tell Kash Heed to shut up.

That's very adult, John. Very useful.

For far too long, Clifford Olson roamed the countryside free as a dodo bird murdering children.

Then a retired RCMP officer urged all the police forces to stop being idiots and talk to each other.

One month later, Olson was caught.

Aside from not having his priorities clear, Mr. Les doesn't even know local history.

Another goon that should go.

Victoria's Secrets

I ask again:

Will we ever be allowed to know why the Victoria Police Chief has been suspended with pay during some secret investigation?

Where are we? Pakistan?

A cop spokesperson says this issue is between the police board and "an employee."

Hello?

The Chief of Police is not merely "an employee." He is the top cop. He is a most trusted public servant. If we can't trust him, whom can we trust? If he has been wayward, we aught to know about this.

Dan Rather's Journalistic Priorities

Thaks to Harry Shearer for this marvelous exposure of one of America's great all-time fakes.

More Strong Commentary on Addictions

"And real treatment is cheap. Real treatment does not need doctors and nurses"

Another one of the damaging myths being pushed by the DTES' addict advocacy industry (InSite, Vandu, the Portland Hotel Society, etc) is that expensive, residential, Cadillac-grade treatment centers with 24-hour medical support will result in more addicts going clean. A recent report on England's addiction services (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23418863-details/%C2%A31.9m+bill+to+help+just+ONE+drug+addict+kick+the+habit/article.do) showed that while funding rose 50% over the previous year (to an annual investment of 384 million pounds in 2006), successful graduates of treatment programs rose by only 1.2 percent. (Note that this program uses "addiction management" techniques such as drug substitution.)

The DTES addict advocacy industry can endlessly claim that not enough money is being spent on treatment services and facilities. They neglect to mention that most treatment programs are ineffective. As you say, David, the most effective programs are inexpensive peer-group support - because the people that take part in these programs are personally motivated to get clean, instead of motivated to continue their addictions through drug provisioning and substitution.

To get people motivated to get clean, Vancouver needs to stop pandering to its addicts - allowing them to hide behind the excuse of (self-inflicted) mental illness; allowing them to evade legal responsibility; allowing them to act with impunity. Vancouver needs to stop supporting junkies and the junkie lifestyle, and instead make it difficult to be a drug addict in Vancouver, thus motivating people into taking responsibility for their own addiction, treatment and recovery.

The Facts About Harm Reduction, from Steve

Good response, David. Keep up the good fight.

I run into this all the time: "Law enforcement created the problem. Harm reduction is the answer."

It sounds bogus to me, so I had a look at the numbers. On the one hand, we have Vancouver, which has been actively pursuing primarily "harm reduction" methods since 1989. On the other, we have New York City, which has been actively pursuing law enforcement initiatives since 1989. New York now has three times as many cops per thousand residents as Vancouver.

In 1990, the crime rates in BC were a bit higher than what they were in New York City. 1990 is the worst year in New York's history since 1963 (which is as far back as I could find records online).

Crime rates have gone down up BC slightly (about 2%) while they have fallen dramatically in NYC (about 70%).

In the past three city administrations (who were the most outspoken advocates of "harm reduction", Vancouver's violent crime rate has slowly risen. HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C have skyrocketed (from about 3% of needle users to 30% and 90% respectively).

Vancouver now has a 13% higher violent crime rate than New York City EVER did. And our property crime rate is fairly steady at 30% higher than New York at its worst.

And since the "Safe" injection site has opened, the overdose death rate has gone up in Vancouver, while it has gone down in the rest of the province.

One of the most significant reductions in crime we've seen in recent years has been auto theft (-30%), due mainly to the bait car program, A LAW ENFORCEMENT INITIATIVE.

The record clearly shows that law enforcement works and "harm reduction" doesn't.

Incidentally, I'm enclosing "harm reduction" in quotes for more than just the obvious reason that it's not actually reducing any harm. In some jurisdictions, "harm reduction", by definition, includes "reducing the supply of drugs". In Vancouver, the definition has been altered to mean "enabling and medically supporting drug use".

To Michael

This is what a commentor wrote to me:

"David you are approaching this only from the addicts point of view. (i.e. what will work to cure them) The "harm reduction" argument represents taxpayers who are fed up having their homes and cars broken into and having their tax dollars going to pay for cops and jails to arrest and incarcerate these people. It is, hopefully a first step toward full legalization of all these substances. My primary concern lies not with the addict but with the cost that addiction places on the rest of us. Addiction is a social problem as well as a personal health issue. 100 years of prohibition has created, not solved, this problem. "

This is my reply:

I am NOT approaching this from the addicts point of view. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am approaching this from the point of view of a citizen.

You think that harm reduction actually reduces break-ins to cars and homes? You poor sap. You don't understand addictions at all and you've swallowed whole the pseudo-science and inflated stats of the harm reduction apologists.

After the dope fiends get their free dope, free needles, comfy places to shoot up, etc...what do you think they do, Michael?

Go to Physics class or viola rehearsal?

Because they only want MORE AND MORE AND MORE, they go into the back alleys from which they came and shoot more illegal drugs using the money they got from selling YOUR STUFF THAT THEY ROBBED FROM YOUR HOME AND CAR.

You think break-ins in cars and homes have shrunk since harm reduction? Ha! They have skyrocketed.

Ask Sun Editor Daphne Braham, who used to write so eloquently about the glories of Harm reduction..until about 2 years ago, when her condo became a regular target for drug addict break-ins. Now she writes from a slightly different perspective.

Ask the cops who witness this madness every day.

And finally, I am many things in life. But the LAST category in which I view myself is a taxpayer. If I had to make all my decisions based on the fact that I am a taxpayer above all, I'd quickly part this sorrowful world.

You are looking, like everyone else, for that magic Silver Bullet answer. It is a never-to-be-satisfied unholy and unhopeful viewpoint.

I am looking at this problem in terms of what will work for me and you and my neighbours and addicts.

But thanks for telling me what I'm doing. Without your help, how could I get out of bed in the morning?

What is Addiction?

THE SPEECH was taped by a friend. He was only able to post the first 10 minutes of what became a 30 minute presentation.

For those of you frustrated by the video being cut off early, I can tell you that we will tape and play the next time I make that speech in its entirety.

In the meantime, I cannot possibly write everything I said, but I can tell you what came next:

What is addiction really about?

It is not about the drug. It is not about heroin or crack or meth or Johnny Walker or Stella Artois or sex or gambling or work or books or any of the other thousands of specifics on which we choose to obsess.

Addiction is all about the oldest and most common of all human ailments - LONELINESS.

We come into the world alone and we leave the world alone. We are trapped within this skin and frame. We live in splendid or horrid isolation, depending on our wealth.

But...between birth and death, most of us make at least some minimal effort to communicate with Others. We find friends and lovers and sweethearts and parents and children and colleagues and bowling teams and camera clubs and bridge partners. And to one degree or another, we make some small or large success of combating loneliness.

Addicts do not.

Addicts simplify all their problems into a single misfortune with a recognizable label - drug addict, alcoholic, gambler, child abuser, over eater.

Yes, these are diseases. But they are diseases of the soul, of the spirit.

And trying to cure them by answering only the most obvious physical symptom is hopelessly doomed.

Addicts need the Ultimate Make-Over. Physical, spiritual, emotional, financial, social, occupational, interactional, literary, athletic, name a phase of life.

Every one is looking for a Silver Bullet. The Mayor, the doctors, the social workers, the armchair therapists, the Would-be saviours.

Doesn't exist.

The treatment lies in steady, consistent, knowing hard work.

And there are many people already doing this work and many more who can do much more for so many other addicted people, if we as a body politic would stop fooling around with destructive harm reduction nonsense and fund real treatment.

And real treatment is cheap. Real treatment does not need doctors and nurses, except on call as occasional volunteers. Real treatment is peer group work, addicts helping addicts.

THE SPEECH

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OF A 30-MINUTE PRESENTATION. The pos above explains a bit more of the message.

Regional Police Force

Kudos to Kash Heed, the new Police Chief in West Vancouver for his thoughtful and necessary plea for a regional police force in BC in today's Sun.

Criminals are not bound by municipal lines on the map, and the RCMP is force fading fast from its glorious past.

Territorial silences and hostilities between local forces help only the bad guys.

Take heed of Heed. He's on the right track.

Tom Christensen Should Resign. The Ministry Should be Sued in the Wrongful Death of Savannah Hall, age 3.

Here's the quote of the week/month/year:

Children & families Minister, who just spent $560,000 of your hard earned taxpayers money on Victoria office renovations, comments on what has now been called the "homicide" of 3 year old Savannah Hall:

"The ministry knows that it could have better served Savannah Hall."

Did the minister know that the foster "mother"/murderer had NINE children in "care?"

Did the minister know that the mother/murderer was under investigation when Savannah Hall was placed in her "care?"

Did the minister know that there are not enough case workers to do the job, because the ministry won't provide adequate funding, which is hard to do when you're redecorating the office?

Does the minister know much of anything?

Should the minister have his job? Be in "public service?"

But with Mr. Bhalru already long gone, seven years of stubborn> appeals for Mr. Khosa seems an absolute outrage. American taxpayers, believing and dreaming that they live in a democracy, will continue to contribute through their daily sweat Billions of dollars to Pakistan's military government.

Read the story here.

Then go see "Rendition," the new movie playing in town.

This is a huge and fast-paced entertainment with a great cast, but, more importantly it is a debate wrapped in a drama - Are torture and detainment without counsel reasonable tools in a democracy? Do we throw out the very principles by which we claim to live when we behave like "the enemy?"

Check out these pipes!

I think Reba is one of the most extraordianry 3-barreled performers alive today. Her portrayal of Nellie Forbush in the concert version of "South Pacific" is the best I've ever seen. She's not only a helluva singer, she's a marvelous actress.

Well, Here's an Amazing Little Essay

Remarkable article by a Muslim.

By: Dr Farrukh Saleem

The writer is an Islamabad-based freelance columnist
There are only 14 million Jews in the world; seven million in the
Americas , five million in Asia, two million in Europe and 100,000 in Africa.

For every single Jew in the world there are 100 Muslims. Yet, Jews
are more than a hundred times more powerful than all the Muslims put together.

Ever wondered why?

Jesus of Nazareth was Jewish.

Albert Einstein, the most influential scientist of all time and

TIME magazine's 'Person of the Century', was a Jew.

Sigmund Freud - id, ego, superego -- the father of psychoanalysis was a Jew.

So were Karl Marx, Paul Samuelson and Milton Friedman.

Here are a few other Jews whose intellectual output has enriched the whole humanity:

Benjamin Rubin gave humanity the vaccinating needle.

Jonas Salk developed the first polio vaccine.

Alert Sabin developed the improved live polio vaccine.

Gertrude Elion gave us a leukaemia fighting drug.

Baruch Blumberg developed the vaccination for Hepatitis B.

Paul Ehrlich discovered a treatment for syphilis (a sexually transmitted disease).

Elie Metchnikoff won a Nobel Prize in infectious diseases.

Bernard Katz won a Nobel Prize in neuromuscular transmission.
Andrew Schally won a Nobel in endocrinology
(disorders of the endocrine system; diabetes, hyperthyroidism).

Aaron Beck founded Cognitive Therapy
(psychotherapy to treat mental disorders, depression and phobias).

Gregory Pincus developed the first oral contraceptive pill.

George Wald won a Nobel for furthering our understanding of the human eye.

Stanley Cohen won a Nobel in embryology (study of embryos and their development).

Willem Kolff came up with the kidney dialysis machine.

Over the past 105 years, 14 million Jews have won 15-dozen Nobel
Prizes while only three Nobel Prizes have been won by 1.4 billion Muslims
(other than Peace Prizes).

Why are Jews so powerful?

Stanley Mezor invented the first micro-processing chip.

Leo Szilard developed the first nuclear chain reactor.

Peter Schultz, optical fibre cable;

Charles Adler,traffic lights;

Benno Strauss, stainless steel;

Isador Kisee, sound movies;

Emile Berliner, telephone microphone

and Charles Ginsburg, videotape recorder.

Famous financiers in the business world who belong to Jewish faith include
Ralph Lauren (Polo), Levis Strauss (Levi's Jeans), Howard Schultz (Starbuck's), Sergey Brin (Google), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Larry Ellison (Oracle), Donna Karan (DKNY), Irv Robbins (Baskins & Robbins) and Bill Rosenberg (Dunkin Donuts)

Richard Levin, President of Yale University, is a Jew.

So are Henry Kissinger (American secretary of state),

Alan Greenspan (fed chairman under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush),

Joseph Lieberman, Madeleine Albright (American secretary of state),

Casper Weinberger (American secretary of defence),

Maxim Litvinov (USSR foreign Minister),

David Marshal (Singapore's first chief minister),

Issac Isaacs (governor-general of Australia), Benjamin Disraeli (British

statesman and author), Yevgeny Primakov (Russian PM), Barry Goldwater,

Jorge Sampaio (president of Portugal), John Deutsch (CIA director),

Herb Gray (Canadian deputy PM), Pierre Mendes (French PM),

Barbara Walters (ABC News), Eugene Meyer (Washington Post),

Henry Grunwald (editor-in-chief Time),

Katherine Graham (publisher of The Washington Post),

Joseph Lelyyeld (Executive editor, The New York Times),

and Max Frankel (New > York Times).

Can you name the most beneficent philanthropist in the history of the world?

The name is George Soros, a Jew, who has so far donated a colossal $4 billion
most of which has gone as aid to scientists and universities around the world.
Second to George Soros is Walter Annenberg, another Jew,who has built a hundred libraries by donating an estimated $2 billion.

At the Olympics,

Mark Spitz set a record of sorts by winning seven gold medals.

Lenny Krayzelburg is a three-time Olympic gold medalist.

Spitz, Krayzelburg and Boris Becker are all Jewish.

Did you know that Harrison Ford, George Burns, Tony Curtis,

Charles Bronson, Sandra Bullock, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen,

Paul Newman,Peter Sellers, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Douglas, Ben Kingsley,

Kirk Douglas,Goldie Hawn, Cary Grant, William Shatner, Jerry Lewis and Peter

Falk are all Jewish.

(Note: One of the Greatest Hollywood producers in the !950s was Cecil B. DeMill, a Jew)
As a matter of fact, Hollywood itself was founded by a Jew.

Among directors and producers, Steven Spielberg, Mel Brooks, Oliver

Stone, Aaron Spelling (Beverly Hills 90210), Neil Simon (The Odd Couple),

Andrew Vaina (Rambo 1/2/3), Michael Man (Starsky and Hutch), Milos Forman

(One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest), Douglas Fairbanks (The thief of Baghdad)

To be certain, Washington is the capital that matters and in Washington the lobby that matters is The American Israel Public affairs Committee, or AIPAC. Washington knows that if PM Ehud Olmert were to discover that the earth is flat, AIPAC will make the 109th Congress pass a resolution congratulating Olmert on his discovery.

William James Sidis, with an IQ of 250-300, is the brightest human who ever existed.
Guess what faith did he belong to?

Question:

So, why are Jews so powerful?

Answer:

Education.

Why are Muslims so powerless?

There are an estimated 1,476,233,470 Muslims on the face of the planet:

one billion in Asia, 400 million in Africa, 44 million in Europe and six million in the Americas.

Every fifth human being is a Muslim; for every single Hindu there are two Muslims,
for every Buddhist there are two Muslims and for every Jew there are one hundred Muslims.

Ever wondered why Muslims are so powerless?

Here is why:

There are 57 member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference OIC),
and all of them put together have around 500 universities; one university for every
three million Muslims.

The United States has 5,758 universities and India has 8,407.

In 2004, Shanghai Jiao Tong University compiled an Academic Ranking of World Universities
and intriguingly, not one university from Muslim-majority states was in the top-500.

As per data collected by the UNDP, literacy in the Christian world stands at nearly 90 per cent
and 15 Christian-majority states have a literacy rate of 100 per cent.

A Muslim-majority state, as a sharp contrast, has an average literacy rate of around 40 per cent and
there is no Muslim-majority state with a literacy rate of 100 per cent.

Some 98 per cent of the 'literates' in the Christian world had completed primary school,
while less than 50 per cent of the literates' in the Muslim world did the same.

Around 40 per cent of the 'literates' in the Christian world attended university while no more than two per cent of the literates' in the Muslim world did the same.

Muslim-majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims. The US has 4,000 scientists per million and Japan has 5,000 per million.

In the entire Arab world, the total number of full-time researchers is 35,000 and there are only 50 technicians per one million Arabs (in the Christian world there are up to 1,000 technicians per one million).

Furthermore, the Muslim world spends 0.2 per cent of its GDP on research and development, while the Christian world spends around five percent of its GDP.

Conclusion:

The Muslim world lacks the capacity to produce knowledge.

Daily newspapers per 1,000 people and number of book titles per million are two indicators of whether knowledge is being diffused in a society.

In Pakistan, there are 23 daily newspapers per 1,000 Pakistanis while the same ratio in Singapore is 360.

In the UK, the number of book titles per million stands at 2,000 while the same in Egypt is 20.

Conclusion:

The Muslim world is failing to diffuse knowledge.

Exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports are an important indicator of knowledge application.

Pakistan's exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports stands at one per cent.

The same for Saudi Arabia is 0.3 per cent; Kuwait, Morocco, and Algeria are all at 0.3 per cent while Singapore is at 58 per cent.

Conclusion:

The Muslim world is failing to apply knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless? Because we aren't producing knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless? Because we aren't diffusing knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless? Because we aren't applying knowledge.

And, the future belongs to knowledge-based societies.

Interestingly, the combined annual GDP of 57 OIC-countries is under $2 trillion.

America , just by herself, produces goods and services worth $12 trillion;

China $8 trillion, Japan $3.8 trillion and

Germany $2.4 trillion (purchasing power parity basis).

Oil rich Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar collectively produce goods and services (mostly oil) worth $500 billion;

Spain alone produces goods and services worth over $1 trillion,

Catholic Poland $489 billion and

Buddhist Thailand $545 billion

(Muslim GDP as a percentage of world GDP is fast declining).

So, why are Muslims so powerless?

Answer: Lack of education.

Quality education to be exact.

Uncontaminated education to be precise.

David's Complete Rotary Speech on the Failure of Drug Policy

Robert Werner came to the Rotary Club meeting in Chinatown at the Floata Restaurant last Wednesday. He did more than listen. He videoed my entire speech, which was called, 'THE TRUTH ABOUT ADDICTIONS: HOW GOVERNMENT ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY AND HELPING NO ONE."

You can watch the video by clicking on the link below.

If you find anything therein that you agree with, send it to your friends and enemies. The Nutty mayor and his cronies have the stage these days and we need all the help we can get to counter their lies.

Oh, The Times They Are A-Changing

"LONDON — Disputes over mosques have broken out across Europe. Residents from Belgium to France to Germany have expressed unease at minarets competing in the urban landscape with the spires and stones of centuries-old cathedrals.

But the fight raging over an abandoned lot in London’s East End is of an altogether grander scale. A large and secretive Islamic sect proposed building what would have been the largest mosque in Europe, smack at the gateway to the 2012 Olympic Games, and within sight of London’s financial district."

Those are the first two paragraphs of a story in the NY Times this morning with the ominous title: A Battle Rages in London Over a Mega-Mosque Plan.

Read the entire piece and try to come to a reasonable, balanced and useful opinion. Not as easy as you might think.

This story illustrates one of the great challenges of the 21st century - world-wide immigration and migration of large populations.

The Vancouver Sun yesterday reported that the most "popular" surname in town is neither Smith nor MacDonald, but Lee...or Li.

London is fast becoming a Muslim city, or at least, so many people fear.

The Mega-Mosque in question is said to be an incubator for terrorists. Truth? Or Fear-mongering? Or both?

US-Pakistan Alliance a Mess

Pakistan was never really on my radar.

You'll forgive my ignorance, but that is the only word that sufficiently describes my awareness of Pakistan.

Now that the country is under military rule I am slowly learning a thing or two.

For instance, I didn't know that the US, which doesn't have health insurance for its children and 45 Million other citizens, has been feeding $10 Billion Plus into the military in Pakistan in recent years.

It turns out that, as usual, the Americans thoroughly blinkered in their solipsism, have no real idea of Pakistan. So once again, as in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, they are now caught with their government issue khaki pants down.

Read the current debacle in this morning's NY Times.
