LOW FLYING CLOUDS

We were first made aware of this rather intriguing and bizarre story 2 days ago. We sat on it because we couldn't really verify the story through the customary 2 reliable sources.

But here it is as revealed through an airline website known as "Plane Buzz."

If true, Dr. David Ho, the owner of Harmony Airlines and whose family made an enormous fortune selling cigarettes in China, was busted over the weekend for solicitation and drug possession, asked to speak to his friend, the Chief of Police, and then had Global and CKNW drop all further news reports.

If this story is untrue, then why it did surface ever so briefly in the first place on these two well-respected news desks?
Are Justice and Journalism for sale?

David,

Holy Cow Batman!!!!

I heard the news on David Ho as well.

"According to media reports out of Vancouver late yesterday, Dr. David Ho, heir to the Hong Kong tobacco fortune and head honcho of Vancouver - based Harmony Airways was pulled over by Vancouver Police at 5:30 a.m. a couple of days ago in Vancouver's seedy east side for erratic driving.

With Dr. Ho in his Porsche Cayenne were apparently two, er, ladies of the evening and, oh yes, a bag of "what was believed to be" crack cocaine was found on the rear seat.

Dr. Ho, who has, according to the media report, made numerous donations to the Vancouver Police Dept. over the years, was overheard by the officer involved calling the VPD Chief and asking him "to do something" about the issue.

In this news item, we might finally have the real reason why Gary Collins, the former BC Finance Minister, quietly resigned as Harmony's CEO?

I think he was becoming more and more aware of the type of man he was working for and there was a huge reputational risk in hanging around.

Gary is now a Vice President with Belkin Industries. A big drop from CEO, however he's working once again for a class organization.

Yes, exactly. I was thinking the same thing about Gary Collins' resignation, and I'm glad it is not only me that was on that track.

But can you explain why the media have dropped this story?

David,

In 2007, do you think that individuals really have the ability to suppress news? If they do then I guess I'm quite naive.

Robert

Yes, I understand and it's a good point - in the wireless world of the net and youtube, there is no scu thing as "no news." Everything will out these days, usually about a nono-second after it occurs.

BUT, I still don't have an answer to the mystery of the manstream media in this case. We are told that 2 local stlwarts of the news (Global and 'NW) carried the David Ho story and then dropped it from sight. And none of us can find it in the Daily Rag.

I recently wrote to the Editor of the Vancouver Sun with some blunt questions regarding this.

The answer was laughable.

Hello,

Have you been paid to not report on David Ho?

Why have you not continued coverage on this degenerate?

Peter

Response:

Hello,
I would normally thank you for writing but in this case I'll take a pass since you start out with the ludicrous suggestion that we've been bribed.

The question itself is reasonable. The report on Mr. Ho, by another media outlet, came from anonymous sources. We have a policy against anonymous sources, which we consider sound and ethical journalistic policy.

We have been unable to confirm the information ourselves.
Should you have information that would assist us in confirming these allegations, we would be pleased to consider it.

So basically they are claiming it never happened, because they magically cannot confirm a public action by our own police force.

Sad, I thought vancouver was different than this.

The answers were an over-the-top emotional response which makes me wonder. Also the claim that they dont know if it happened or not is laughable.
