Gone sailing...

There are 3 reasons (spurious at best) for this short, written post this morning:

First, I don't know about you, Kids, but I didn't see a thing in the news that caught my attention. CSIS knew there was going to be a bombing on Air India. The Premier gets a 54% pay raise. The mayor hires a politico to do a job that can't and won't be done and is unnecessary, and he can't say what the salary or terms of reference of the job are even though he's the guy who did the deal. Wolfowitz finally quits. Bush and Blair are still kissing and smiling.

In other words, same old, same old.

Second, I've noticed that my numbers of hits and visitors on the blog have declined precipitously (and I can't even say, "precipitously!") since I started doing the audio thing.

Is it the quality of the audio? Is it my shrieky teenage voice? Do you prefer the written word? Have you finally realized what an old crank I really am?

And Finally (YEAH! YEAH!), I off to Winnipeg early tomorrow morning for the 90th birthday of a good friend, which means that I won't be posting anything over the long weekend.

In the meantime, you could COMMENT and tell me how you feel about the AUDIO versus the WRITING and so on.

Here's what I hope. I hope the next 4 days are sunny and warm wherever you may be and that you enjoy the good company of people whom you consider good company.

Back on Tuesday. Salute! Che vediamo! Ciao....

Prefer the written - love words, and cannot "see" them in the audio.
Also your written is more concise, and I think more interesting. In the audio you tend to wander and
repeat yourself, which is not the case, when you yourself can see what you have just written.
I am a daily reader (listener).

I like both, David. I suppose the audio reminds me of your days on the radio and makes me hopeful that you'll be back on again one day!

Like the written more...I'm always multi-tasking when on the computer (usually playing poker), and prefer something I can read as I need to listen for beeps and stuff, so it's hard to listen to the audio at the same time.

David, this is the FIRST Blog that I read daily! And I have many Blog Sites in My Favourites List. I am putting out the word to all of my friends that can read [both of them], to visit your Site. There is NONE other like it!
Enjoy your weekend, and I will "visit" you again on Tuesday. Cheers

I'm also an avid reader and prefer the written. I don't really have any reason but I just seem to like it better. But for all it's worth I'm having the same problem on my blog. For the last 8 months has been getting between 70 and 100 hits a day and now I'm down to about 20. I think it might have something to do with summer being upon us (or I'm not as entertaining as I used to be).

David,

I wish you were still on the radio, however I do prefer your written comments.

Hi David,

The audio 'cast does create a lot of nostalgia for the days when you were on-air, but for the purposes of this blog, your written presentation seems to be more focussed.

Also, as a former broadcaster, what hit me right off the bat was the quality of the audio needs a lot of improvement. You might want to try a better mic. Your levels are coming through unevenly (you seem to be going in-and-out). Certainly get a sock for it 'cause your P's are popping and your S's are too sibilant.

I suspect Sarah is correct in her assesment of seasonal blog hits as well. I've noticed the same pattern on mine.

On the up side, you content is smashing, as always. Keep it up!
