Here is a Good Citizen

Congratulations to John Young, who continues to be my working class hero.

Young is the Victoria school trustee and former principal who has twice sued the Education Ministry ("The name is Bond. Shirley Bond.") for charging kids and their parents fees for school course and supplies. Twice he has succeeded.

He vows to continue his fight to maintain our public schools fair and democratic when it comes to financing.

He should be given a Citizenship Award.

"He vows to continue his fight to maintain our public schools fair and democratic when it comes to financing". What a sad commentary on our esteemed Government Minister's and there assorted fart catchers. Through their lack of actions, a solitary private citizen must try to give them a good swift kick in the Mind. Shameful..........

Only that Young is not just John Q. Public, he is a former school trustee.

Moreover, the continued pouring of more $$$ into the 'programs' of some of the supposed schooling will only be for 'needed' graduation schooling. IF this proposal gets it way THEN the days of the school field trip are numbered (in days). IF the only place $$$ can be spent is on 'for graduation only' schooling, that will spell the end of music, sports, arts, and a number of 'other than needed for graduation' classes.

While I agree with his sentiment, I disagree with the allocation of funds and the strict application of them that such a court ruling will create. Ultimately I think that the backlash from such a regimented plan only teaching in classrooms to 'graduate' students will lead to what I think should be done. More homeschooling and less 'wrote lecturing'. Sadly it will take another generation of students before such a situation comes to pass.
