So glad that Hookah's will be exempt from the new anti-smoking bylaws. And that coke and crystal meth haven't been considered.
At least that will allow City Council to continue smoking whatever it is that they've been on for the last 2 years.

So, "Vancouver city council members bowed to arguments that hookah lounges provide an important cultural space for the city's Muslims and granted them a temporary exemption".
Whenever the word "cultural" comes into play, you know they're gonna win. God (Allah) forbid we take a stand. Not that I care that there will be hookah lounges, but why oh why are we making these ridiculous exceptions? I would argue that it is "cultural" to smoke in a seedy bar on Granville Street, just not your or my culture, but certainly someone's.
And good for a chuckle, was this portion of the Sun article (was this meant to be funny?):
The one foggy point in the new bylaw was whether it will apply to crack cocaine and crystal-meth smoking.
David, what's equally bizarre is the Georgia Straight talk story today about Burnaby Council. Seems a Mr. Singh killed a British policeman in 1931 and now he's become a martyr and Council has named a day in honour of 100 years since his birth. These are the folks who have brought us terrorists, gangs and fake charities. What's going on?

David,
Here is some Amy Winehouse - To Know Him is to Love Him. Sends shivers. Too bad she's killing herself, she's brilliant.
