“Let us pray for the Jews. May the Lord Our God enlighten their hearts so that they may acknowledge Jesus Christ, the savior of all men.”
So translates a new version of Good Friday prayer that the Pope has sanctioned.

I well remember when Pope John Paul II passed away, Sir David, you were still gracing the airwaves of CKNW at the time, and we noted that yourself as a Jew and I as an Anglican were paying tribute to a Pope who had reached out to other faiths.
I don't know about yourself, but it hadn't occured to me at the time that the next Pope would represent such a turning away from John Paul's approach.
"“We have been very much involved in interfaith activities and dialogue for years, and relationships with the Catholic Church are really quite good,” the rabbi said. “I think it really turns back the clock a bit and reverts to some sense that the church is pulling back from the positions it took in Vatican II.”"
This is, to put it mildly, not a positive development. There is more than enough fanaticism in the world without this.
I read something quite astonishing recently.

No wonder others of us think the A of C, with all due respect, needs a nice long rest somewhere peaceful and supervised, never mind the rest of us converting to get rid of him.
