Health Authority is Sick and Beyond Resuscitation

This is so sick.

It is exactly the kind of thing that makes me with crazy with frustration.

Christ Church Cathedral has been feeding the hungry for over a dozen years.

Parishioners make sandwiches and soups at home and bring them into the church at Georgia and Burrard.

Last month, a meddling busybody who works for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority was walking by the church, saw a sign advertising the free soup and sandwiches and went in to "investigate."

Now, thanks to these GODLESS, PETTY PIG PEOPLE at "the Authority," the soup and sandwiches for the poor and hungry will have to be made in the church, because you know if you make a tuna or chicken sandwich in your home WITHOUT SUPERVISION - I MEAN, WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, TO MAKE FOOD IN YOUR OWN HOME WITHOUT THE PROPER SAFETY GUARDS??? - that sandwich might be dangerous to the community at large.

Little Miss Tight Ass Snoopy Pants and her colleagues at the Coastal Health Authority apparently have not been reading recent headlines.

Let's bring them up to date, shall we?

There is a world-wide food shortage upon us. Rice and wheat prices are going through the ceiling. Children are starving.

So God forbid some Christian folk should follow their heads and hearts and religious and moral beliefs and try to bring an ounce of comfort into the world.

Not without permission from "the Authority," you don't.

You know what I think Christ Church Cathedral should do?

I think they should tell the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority to go piss up a big rope.

It is exactly because of bureaucrats like this that we have so few treatment beds for addicts, so few homes for the homeless. Too many sinks, not enough sinks, hallways too narrow or too wide, no emergency push doors, and so on...

These are tiny people with tiny minds and they can never see the big picture.

During my years of running a residential treatment centre, I had a saying on the wall. I still like it.

"My only fear is that the meek might really inherit the earth."

David, this is just another small step down the slope of moral decline. We have seen this before, repeat after me-Volunteers are BAD-they take away potential union jobs.

We saw it in the schools, remember when mothers and fathers helped out in the schools? Or womens auxiliaries helped in the hospitals, there was once a rather fine volunteer group at Riverview Hospital-all gone. Replaced by union workers and we wonder why budgets keep expanding. Were the services provided by volunteers so critical to the functioning of the schools and hospitals? No, but they made life for the students and patients slightly better and provided a means for the volunteers to fill some idle time with really useful work.

Petty, mindless people who cannot understand that these volunteer efforts although rarely perfect (as the bureaucrats insist they should be) get the job done without layers of 'management' and training and certification and health and safety and on and on.

Perhaps someone should wake up at the Health Authority and ask some simple questions - Has anyone been seriously sickened by this groups actions? Are their actions for the general good of our society? Are conditions in the city's restaurants so perfect that our restaurant inspectors now need to hassle volunteer agencies to find work? Perhaps we are over-staffed!

Don't worry, there won't be any thing left on Earth to inherit.

How the heck does a meddling busybody become a rant against unions? It isn't unionized workers that are sucking up the largest salaries in public hospitals.

"The meek shall inherit the earth" - We have countless proof that the meek (and incompetent) have already taken over Vancouver. But barely a soul raises a finger in complaint.

I've come to the sad conclusion that my home town has become a community of mediocrity and bad decisions. It IS heading in the wrong direction ... one small drip..drip..drip at a time. :-(

Superbugs munching their way through the hospitals (still the best places to get sick) while people die in corridors and Commissar Knothead is hassling church volunteers feeding the poor?
Who elects these little tyrants anyway? More and more we're bossed around by these people and who the hell are they answerable to? Where do they derive all this authority from?
Nanny State is getting way way out of hand, and its too bad Abbott is about as much use as a dead mackerel for a minister, someone with some stones/brains would clear this nonsense up toot sweet.

I guess "Little Miss Tight Ass Snoopy Pants and her colleagues at the Coastal Health Authority" would rather see the poor and hungary eating out of trash cans 'n' dumpsters.

One very Apostatic Apparatchik appears to have far too much time on her hands...

I agree David, that the church should tell the buddinski Health Authority to clean-up their own act, mind their own business and stay away from 'holy ground'.

Cannot the sandwich munching folks be declared 'in sanctuary' from these petty bureaucrats?
