Solzhenitsyn, Literary Giant Who Defied Soviets, Dies at 89


Read the NY Times bio of the Nobel winner who gave us, among many other things, the "Gulag" as an encompassing single word denouncement of very bad government.

I remember reading these books and deciding that it was important to speak up.
He said that writers and artists must defeat the lies of governments that ignored the people.
Not just one particular government, government in general.
Amazing author.
