Discussions and comments about "The Pregnancy" will not appear on this site.

Such trivia is distasteful, irrelevant and a meaningless distraction.

The real issues are being obscured by the fate of a girl in Alaska, who a week ago was anonymous.

The real issues in this American election are War, health care, education, housing, mortgages, productivity, jobs and pride.

Wait.

Here's a better summary:

"Our nation is in trouble on two fronts. The American dream is under siege at home, and America’s leadership in the world has been weakened. Middle-class and low-income Americans are hurting — with incomes declining; job losses, poverty and inequality rising; mortgage foreclosures and credit card debt increasing; health care coverage disappearing; and a very big spike in the cost of food, utilities and gasoline.

“And our position in the world has been weakened by too much unilateralism and too little cooperation, by a perilous dependence on imported oil, by a refusal to lead on global warming, by a growing indebtedness and a dependence on foreign lenders, by a severely burdened military, by a backsliding on global nonproliferation and arms control agreements, and by a failure to consistently use the power of diplomacy, from the Middle East to Africa to Latin America to Central and Eastern Europe.”

That was Bill Clinton at the Democratic Convention last Wednesday.

The fortunes of one family in Anchorage haven't changed those priorities.

Talk to me about the election. Talk about Palin, McCain, Obama, Biden, housing, race, money, Iraq, Iran, jobs.

But the "P" word will go unheeded in these pages.

I agree with that David.

Listen to this woman Palin, and tell me why anyone would want her to become Vice President of the USA? I can't decide if this woman is merely a twit or brain damaged...

If you think abut it, this is scary.

I am quite happy that you are not mentioning some of the mindless drivel Dave.

Slightly off topic, but on the vein of mindless drivel...

I was straightening out some items at work, when some of my co-workers were talking about the candidates in the upcoming US Election. They talked about how Ms. Obama dressed. They talked about a woman being named to run as VP, etc. etc.

Just as a lark, I approached my co-workers and said, "Quick, although a Canadian election has not been officially announced - can you name the top three runners for Prime Minister?"

One of my co-workers could name Jack Layton. I had to prod them by asking who are current PM was - another person finally named Harper. No one could name Dion - they knew he was some Liberal French guy.

Another of my co-workers shrugged her shoulders and advised me that she just "doesn't care about Canadian politics, she is more interested in the US because they have real power."

I reminded her that we were working in health care and that a lot of our funding might come from the federal level in one way or another. I also reminded her that we were working with seniors - who are also often directly affected by the policies of the federal government.

Whatever.... the silly gossip around a US election is just so much more interesting than our own lives and well being....
