Last Sunday, the family of Steller's Blue Jays returned to our yard.

With the massive influx of crows in recent years, other birds large and small, had been scarce.

I don't know where those yappy black devils have gone for the moment, but it is a joy to see and hear some other birds back in our trees and shrubs.

Speaking of which - shrubs - my Christams cactus is once again blooming right on time. It is quite amazing. Not only does it do this like a clock - or a calendar - every year, but, added bonus, it blooms again in January and February, helping to carry us through to spring.
