Transclunk is Dead! Long Live...uh...er...
Nothing could be worse than Transclunk, right? Dozens of unelected, unaccountable mandarins spending billions of your tax dollars on buses that don't work. What could possibly be worse?
Let's not hold our breath just yet, kids. The SCBCTAA -we're not making this up, sounds like an old Bob & ray routine, I know, but this is really it - The South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority Act will rid us for once and for all of the Goofy Mayors Parade.
Unfortunately, it may be replaced by an equally unaccountable, anonymous secretive group of hyper-managers.
This is a mighty fine mess you've gotten us into, Kevin...uh. Ollie...

Hmmmm, maybe I got up on the wrong side of the bed but I disagree with you here too. You're saying it's bad to have transportation experts & engineers using facts to make the best long-term plans for all of us?
The reason why many of the mayors are so upset is because they can now no longer use their power on Translink to pad the coffers of their friends in construction industry.
I think this change is a REALLY good thing!!
Well, actually we agree more than I made clear...
I think Kevin falcon had to do this and I think we are well rid of that gang of self-serving mini-thugs.
I also think this is a business and a corporation and it should be run as such, from the top down. The consensus model is no way to run almost anything. It is largely touchy-feely idiocy that puts a clamp on ACTION and ACCOMPLISHMENT.
Still...I wait to see how the new administrationfares...
They couldn't do much worse! Too much behind the scenes wheeling and dealing, people making money of lousy products, like buses that have all kinds of problems. Are there any honest people in business and government? I'm a bus rider and I hear all kinds of things from the drivers!
Lets hope it will get better!
Great insight into the issue.
We can't have small minded Mayor's running Translink to benefit their communities, to the detrimint of the overall region.
We currently have a system run by "special interest group" politics rather than run by professional engineers and planners, with the expertise to run a complex regional transportation system.
