Silk Purses

$11 Million tax dollars for a spruced up Granville Maul, er...Mall?

Very nice.

And tell me, with wall to wall beer halls how is this "make-over" going to change the skiddy frontier town reality to something approaching civilization?

Sorry.

I'll believe it when I see it.
The foto, by the way, was apparently taken on the day when all the drunks and drug addicts were making their weekly court appearances.

You know how one can walk through a vast flower garden and breathe in a medley of lovely scents made by nature?

Well, on any summer day, one can walk down Granville Mall and breathe in a medley of 'other' scents made by nature!

I am old enough to remember when Granville Street was a grand (for Vancouver of course) entrance to downtown. I was on Granville "Mall" recently and all I could see were slackers and spitters and garbage and grocery carts filled with more garbage.

Isn't it amazing how our civic 'betters' have let their developer friends move the city's livable center from Main and Hastings, to Granville and now over to Burrard? One would guess they will now let the 'rot' set in up on Burrard and start the process all over by hsetting their sights on some other part of the city. Just goes to show what greed can do to a city when the campaign donations out-weigh genuine civic responsibility.
