Excuse me, Sir, but could you be a crook or something?

Police Chief Chu wants a "30 strikes and your out" policy for chronic offenders.

Only in the WimpLand we call Canada could such a proposal be considered.

What about 5 offenses? Wouldn't that be enough to suggest we have a chronic offender on our hands and that we don;t want this person in our community for a while?

Not in Pleasantville.

I truly thought Chu was being sardonic/sarcastic sar something when I first heard his "30 strikes and you're out" proposal. Sadly, no.

Certainly it is true that we make it difficult for foreign doctors to practice medicine here, but we should be given some credit for encouraging and aiding the pursuit of "alternative" methods of "employment" for both foreign born and home grown criminals.

I think he had to choose a number that was so outrageous that no one could credibly object to it - not even Neil Boyd, everyone at CBC News, or even the Pivot Legal Society. If legislation or precedent can be set for 30 then perhaps 20, 10, & 5 could be next.

Berner...r u serious? Of course Chu was taking a shot at the justice system and missing the real target as cops generally do.

My understanding is that the number comes from the fact that after 30 offenses, criminals actually receive lighter sentences.

"no one could credibly object to it - not even Neil Boyd, everyone at CBC News, or even the Pivot Legal Society" Er, you're kidding right? And allow their "growth industries' wither? Not in this lifetime.
