LAST ANNOUNCEMENT FOR A WHILE

Here's my last commentary for a while.

The Vancouver Sun editorial, on the day before the municipal elections, goes on for several weighty paragraphs and then (has the good taste?) doesn't have the male dangly parts to endorse either Peter Ladner or Gregor Robertson.

And you wonder why I cancelled my subscription.

At the good advice of my two dearest friends in the world, I am taking a real break.

The Berner Monologues blog will be shut down for the next two weeks. It will re-open on Friday, November 28th.

Most forlorn among you will be the extremely bereft and sick man who hates me so much, he lives only to read my blog and send me his daily hate mail.

Dear Hating Man With No Apparent Other Purpose,

I hope, in the coming 14 days, you find some dog to bark at or grocery clerk to suspect of cheating you. I pray you may latch onto some other radio show, TV program or website that excites your juices as much as my work does.

I pray also for your family. You must a beach party on wheels.

For all the rest of you...

Bon vacance, bon chance, don't let the new Vision City Council, Park Board and School Board depress you too much.

Walk, swim, read, talk, laugh, sing...

Have a good holiday and I hope pleasant and fun adventures, or at least several good books.

As for hate man, I feel sorry for him, wasting so much time and accomplishing so little.

Cheers!

David,

In the wise words of a former prof, "Illigitimi Non Carborundum", loosely translated as "Don't let the b******s grind you down"!
Grab plenty of R&R.

Vision council, school and park board depress me? You must be kidding!

Seriously, have a nice vacation David and drink lots of Happy Planet while you're away!

Excellent choice David!

Come and have some relaxation and fun here with us on Vancouver Island!

Have a great vacation Dave.

Although I like to think I have more of a life than "Hating Man," I do enjoy reading your blog. The fact that I take the time to do so when I have two kids under the age of four to deal with should establish that your opinion is right up there when I prioritize my time.

Look forward to reading your blog in two weeks.

Enjoy your time away David. Drink in the beauty of nature, the escape of a good book or two, some soul touching music, good food, and hopefully one to provide warm cuddly hugs.

"See" you when you return.

Thank you to everyone for the kind thoughts.

The sea is half a block away.

In the other direction, there is a little village with scores of cafes, a big grocery store, a pharmacy, even a gelateria.

Swam at the local pool yesterday.

All is well.

Cheers!

and the hugs person arrives tomorrow for a few days...

Enjoy your time away. If you are so inclined, here are a couple of items that may be of interest and may offer you a few chuckles during your brief respite.

Happy Birthday Nov. 18th. Cheers.

Gordon Campbell must have got wind of your vacation. Why else would he risk spending zillions of my tax dollars on the 7 or so pages of government ads in the Sun.
Get back soon. The outrage from the "political writers" of our two daily papers is hardly stirring the population to riot in the streets.

Enjoy your time away.

With the Sun and Province looking like they're going to continue with the Gregor Love-In for the time being, we need your commentary.

Particularly enlightening was your pre-election research into the Tides Foundation, who are major funders of the Tyee website.

I'll be in touch.
(and thanks for your prompt reply to my email.)

All that money spent in the Sun today and hardly anyone got to Fort Langley for the ceremony. Fools should have advertised on the weekend so folks could plan ahead. But do we expect common sense from this lot? Hurry back and raise hell. The rest of the media are comatose.

A Vancouver Sun writer,Lori Culbert, has written an article regarding Gregors American backers in todays online version.

The link is here:

A Gregor love-in is the most appropriate term. I left a comment below her version, with links to your blog posts detailing the information she didn't represent.

Thanks to David for bringing to light the details so often overlooked by others.

After checking the above link this morning,I discovered that the comment I submitted pointing out that you had covered this first(and with excellent details), was not allowed by their editors.

Surprise, surprise.Apparently Sun readers are only allowed the rose tinted version.

It appears those who do not read your blog will never know. What a shame.

Kudos David:

There's more on the American donations to Vision in this morning's Sun and Province, too.

And remember, The Tyee receives large donations from the Tides Foundation, too.
