Twists and Turns

People think that the best sports in B.C. are hockey, fishing, skiing and playing games on their iPhones.

But no.

The very best gamer, bar none, is watching bureaucrats, mandarins, elected officilas and all the other agents of the devil play with words.

It's called The Spin Cycle.

The name of the game is to take the obvious and verbally twist it into something unrecognizable, although usually risible.

Prime example from yesterday's headlines:

Doctor on leave after scans reviewed

Sechelt hospital retests nearly 200 people since last year

Pretty straight forward, yes?

Just hold onto your bowler, Bunky.

We've only just begun.

This medical wizard has been performing colonoscopies of late. Over 600 little visits up the backsides of local patients in recent years. Only problem is Doc doesn't really know how to do this little bit of plumbing and the intruding equipment is not really getting to the final resting place it should. Result - confusion and a sore butt for nothing.

Now, here's the spokesperson for VANCOUVER COASTAL HEALTH (I put that in caps and bold font because around these parts, this body is akin to the emperor or the ayatollah... as in, what we say, goes, Brother!):

"There was never any evidence that anything was done wrong but possibly it wasn't done thoroughly," Vancouver Coastal Health spokeswoman Anna Marie D'Angelo said,

Now, here s my problem, Kids.

I'm a bit of a language freak.

And from the little log cabin in the woods that I was a-larnin', doing something wrong and not doing it thoroughly ARE THE SAME THING!

But it's OK.

Our Angel of Public Deception says that sticking tubes and camera and stuff up the public's ass for four years and getting no useful information is just a minor glitch.

And if she had to suffer this indignity and come away none the wiser, would she still be spouting this drivel?

Probably.

She's well compensated for the bull.

And, as usual, because we live in a society where nobody is held accountable, NO REAL punishment will come from this incredible story of incompetence. All you have to do is look at last week's story where the RCMP have been granted a NEW, LONG-TERM contact to "police" BC. How many people have died at the hands of this force (pun fully intended) ? How much do you want to bet when those Stanley Cup rioters finally see their day in court, the longest jail sentence will be no more than about a couple of months. How about the Wall Street bankers / managers ? They are all still getting BONUSES while hundreds of thousands of average Americans are losing their homes - still ! Sad. Really, really sad where our society has ended up. Zero accountability for anything. Nothing I hear or read these days shocks me when it come to just how self-centred and selfish people have become. Tried walking down a sidewalk lately ? The volume of people that expect you to 'get out of their way' is amazing. If people can't even walk down the street with even a little respect, how can we ever expect people to be held accountable for actions a hundred times worse ?

The trial of Campbell's theft and corrupt sale of the BCR, was such a total farce. Corrupt courts, corrupt judges, brain dead witnesses. Thieving our tax dollars, to pay the two patsies legal fees. Corrupt Elections BC, corrupt police, there is absolutely nothing in BC, that isn't corrupt. They even give themselves incentive bonuses, for cheating the citizens, of the services we pay through the nose for.

Even Harper does not comply with, his tough on crime, nor do his ministers have to. $50 million for gazebo's, #3 million for just ONE members travel expenses. Who can forget, Harper's stupid $1 billion dollar fake lake? There is a free for all on our tax dollars. Harper is by far the worst offender. Spending billion upon billions of our tax dollars, for his own selfish goals.

Campbell with the dirtiest, most corrupt and foul political record, Harper rewards him for his dirty work, to High Commissioner to England. Pity Campbell missed his chance to come and collect his OBC award. We had a, welcome reception committee waiting for him.

Thank you for calling the health authority on their disgusting spin. Every one of the health authorities operate this way. They are accountable to no one, and it shows. Right down to the attitudes of many of the staff in hospitals and care facilities.

There are some good people but they are the silent minority, I'm afraid.

We should all be afraid of BC's health care system. On just about every level.

Good for you David to speak the truth in unvarnished terms.

Very grateful to have you and the other BC bloggers of integrity and wisdom all helping to pin the tail on the donkey.

That other donkey, the one that passes for the news media in BC, sure isn't contributing anything positive to our society.
